This is about 30min of work. I have no idea what I am doing but at least it is the right shape. I also know there are a few places I could have been more efficient with like over the rear wheel well. But what do you think? I would like some constructive criticism. Don't just tell me it sucks dick. Thanks.

Very nice man. I really appreciate ppl who work with zmodeler becouse i cant do shit with it my self(3dsmax is much easyer). What comes to the model I think thats a good start but u still need some practice. But if u r really getting into modeling i recommend getting 3dsmax. Good luck on modeling MAaaN

whoa
![]() thats pretty much waaaaaaaaaaaaaay further than I've ever been in zmodeler ![]() I have tried different 3d programs, but 3dsmax is the program that does it for me. besides, for someone who doesn't know what he's doing, I'd say that it looks good so far:yes |

I have AutoCAD 07', 3DS MAX 5 (for exporting into .scx), and Zmodeler. It's pretty easy to me.
Now I want to eventually put this model into SL:RR. When I import it into 3DS MAX, do I then seperate all the pieces and group them together as say, chassis, front bumper and so on and attatch all poly's together in that group? And then export them seperatly? I'm hoping I am going at this in the right way. But the base chassis that I see in SL:RR, I don't see how I would make one with this model. Do I need to import say the Duhen or Ninja one? Or make my own? And model the car around it? Hopefully you follow what I am saying. I'm a noob. |

Well:
1: look at the dimensions of your car in real life. 2: compare them to the ORIGINAL cars in SLRR. 3: based on dimensions, use that particular model for a base for your car. 4: import the chassis scx of that car into zmodeler, and scale it to 10000, that way, the car has the correct scale:wink 5: scale your grouped, complete car to that chassis. 6: then comes the "fun" part: let's say your chassis has 8 seperate parts. Group them, and make sure that the pivot is centered to the object, in your case being the chassis. Then export it to chassis.scx, and fix the scripting, like the loading order. Then the chassis exporting is done. It's basiccally the same for the other bodyparts: when they consist of more than one part: group them and export them; no need for seperated exporting ![]() I hope this helps a bit Dave

I got angry with the car so I took a break from it. So I made a shitty wheel. And now I'm angry because I forgot how to use 3DS Max. Ugh.

I tried zmodeler once, but I completely failed at it so I never tried again.
@sabroo: You'll need to get 3ds max 5 and the scx exporting plugin. The scx export plugin is easy to get, but 3ds max can be quite a bit more challenging. It sounds like you already have 3ds max though, so you just need to make sure that it's version 5. |

I have alot of respect for you even giving z modeller a try, i used to try it , tried so many times, the stupid crashes, the inability to select and move around vertices or faces in the perspective view and so many other just made me pissed and i gave up modelling for a long time, the ni found 3ds max, looked so hard then i used it and its the easiest expensive program i ever used and with service pack it crashes hardly ever unless your doing hardcore rendering with some crazy options !
3ds max some day u will discover it but w/e use z modeller at least your modelling !

It's a pain in the ass trying to figure it out on your own. I just select tools and use them and see what happens.

Hahaha mowgli, and how is what you do different from figuring it out on your own then. ;) Or maybe that's what you meant. Anyway, tutorials exist of course, but there are much better programs like 3ds max that have waaay more information and help included with them, and bigger online communities.

I have made a couple wheels and basic exhausts before, back in the Buildersedge days. but that was a long time ago, I forgot everything now.
I have not worked on anything because I am quite busy lately. I doubt I will ever actually finish it. I honestly can't be bothered to take the time to relearn everything. |

I'm not really surprised it's your first model. ;) And I don't mean that it's bad, I just mean alsmot everybody moves on to a different modeling program by the beginning of their second model, LOL.
